Berlin (AP) - Handball Bundesliga team Füchse Berlin remains on course in the European League.

On Tuesday the Berliners won their last group game against the Portuguese top club Sporting Lisbon with 29:19 (14:10).

The actual home game took place in front of empty stands in Plock, Poland, as the Corona regulations prevented the Portuguese from entering Germany.

Portugal is considered a high risk area.

The first leg was scored against the Füchse at the green table because they couldn't come for the same reasons.

Nevertheless, the Berliners finished Group B as leaders.

The round of 16 starts on March 23rd.

The best Berlin throwers were Hans Lindberg with eight and Tim Matthes with six goals.

The initial phase was marked by many mistakes on both sides.

It wasn't until the middle of the first half that the foxes were able to easily pull away for the first time with 8: 5.

Once again they were able to thank goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev, who defused some of the hosts' throws.

But the foxes found it difficult to attack, often found only seldom a flow of play and gave too many open throws.

The break lead against weakened Portuguese should have been higher than four goals.

After the break, the Berliners took advantage of the opponent's mistakes more consistently and pulled away to 20:12.

The foxes now had everything under control - without being too shiny.

The red card for Mijajlo Marsenic, which he saw in the 51st minute after his third time penalty, did nothing to change that.

In the final phase, some of the regular workers could be spared.
