Manchester City extended their impressive streak with a 21st victory in all competitions, beating Wolverhampton 4-1 at home on Tuesday thanks in particular to a brace from Gabriel Jesus, to open the 29th day of the English Championship.

Against Wolves (12th), the Premier League leader experienced a little fright at the hour mark, after a first one-sided period in which City had up to 80% possession of the ball.

Kevin De Bruyne's teammates opened the scoring after superb collective action (1-0, 15th).

The Belgian served Rodri who launched Riyad Mahrez perfectly, whose cross was deflected into his own camp by Leander Dendonker, put under pressure by Raheem Sterling.

But in the second period, on their first real opportunity, Wolves equalized on a diving header from Conor Coady after a free kick perfectly struck by Joao Moutinho (1-1, 61st).

Gabriel Jesus, often criticized, emerged to give the advantage to the Citizens on a powerful strike from the left in the box (2-1, 80th).

Riyad Mahrez imitated him nine minutes later (3-1, 89th).

Jesus offered himself a brace in added time by resuming a shot from Ilkay Gündongan badly repelled by Rui Patricio (4-1, 90 + 3).

"In March, no one is champion," Pep Guardiola had tempered Monday at a press conference.

With this new success, the Premier League leader looks more like it than ever and temporarily takes a 15-point lead over Manchester United, traveling to Crystal Palace on Wednesday.

The derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday against the Red Devils is already salivating.
