Emir of Kuwait issues a decree forming the new government

Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported that the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, issued a decree today, Tuesday, approving the new government, after the Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, submitted the names of his government to the Emir.

The decree stated ... After reviewing the constitution and our decree issued on 11 Jumada al-Akhira corresponding to January 24, 2021 appointing His Highness Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah as Prime Minister and based on the proposal of the Prime Minister, we decreed the following:

(Article 1) Each of the following shall be appointed: 1- Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

 2- Abdullah Yusef Abdul Rahman Al-Roumi, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Integrity Promotion Affairs.

 3- Issa Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Kandari, Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

 4- Muhammad Abdul Latif Al-Faris, Minister of Oil and Minister of Higher Education.

 5- Basil Hammoud Hamad Al-Sabah, Minister of Health.

 6- Ahmed Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs.

 7 - Rana Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Faris, Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology.

 8- Mubarak Salem Mubarak Al-Harees, Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs.

 9 - Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Minister of Interior.

 10 - Khalifa Musaed Hamadeh, Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment.

 11- Abdulrahman Badah Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs.

 12 - Ali Fahad Al-Mudhaf, Minister of Education.

 13- Shaya Abdulrahman Ahmad Al-Shaya, Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development.

 14- Abdullah Issa Al-Salman, Minister of Trade and Industry.

 15- Mishaan Muhammad Mishaan Al-Otaibi: Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development.

(Second Article): The Prime Minister must notify this decree to the National Assembly, and it shall be enforced from the date of its issuance and published in the Official Gazette.

The Prime Minister had said in a statement posted on "Twitter" that he had created two new portfolios, the first for the Ministry of State for Integrity Promotion Affairs and the second for communications and information technology.

He also said that the coming stage requires "concerting and unifying efforts to focus on confronting administrative and financial corruption and its tools, whether in the government apparatus or outside it."

He pointed out that the Ministry of State for Communications and Information Technology will develop electronic infrastructure, enhance cybersecurity, upgrade electronic and smart government services, and develop the telecommunications sector.
