Ebstorf (dpa / lni) - With a special permit, a wolf was shot in the Uelzen district.

The female animal was shot on Friday night in the Ebstorf area, the district spokesman announced on Monday.

The carcass of the she-wolf was recovered by the Lower Saxony State Agency for Water Management, Coastal and Nature Conservation (NLWKN) and is to be genetically examined.

So the authorities want to find out whether it is the proximity of the wanted male with the identifier GW1027m.

The authorities assume that this lead wolf and its pack are responsible for numerous cracks in farm animals.

"This resulted in total damage of over 70,000 euros," it said.

The result of the DNA analysis is expected by the end of the week.
