Berlin (dpa) - The five largest team sports associations in Germany are calling for the Corona restrictions in club sports to be lifted quickly.

“It's about time that the children got the chance to do their sport again.

Not only do the children and young people need this, but we also need it in the associations and in the local clubs in order to be able to develop some perspective in our sports, ”said Andreas Michelmann, spokesman for the Team Sports Germany initiative, in an interview with "Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung".

The initiative, based in Berlin, is the interest group of the German Basketball Association (DBB), the German Ice Hockey Association (DEB), the German Football Association (DFB), the German Handball Association (DHB) and the German Volleyball Association (DVV).

DHB President Michelmann, full-time mayor of the city of Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt, as spokesman, demands that politics offer opening perspectives at the upcoming conference of the Federal Chancellor and Prime Minister on Wednesday.

“We have developed hygiene concepts that work for all of our sports.

But we can only use it if sport is generally allowed, ”said Michelmann.

According to him, the team sports associations are primarily concerned with the well-being of the children.

They are probably more at home than usual, daddling on their cell phones and watching videos.

"I fear that the children without exercise in the sports club not only lack the opportunity for physical development, but also for intellectual and social development," said Michelmann.

And further: "If children cannot live out their urge to move, it affects their psyche."
