According to a lawmaker from the right-wing Swedish Democrats party, the US and Baltic authorities are urging the European Union to deal with China "with great caution."

“Now we see that China is increasing its propaganda against the EU, while Russia, as usual, is conducting a large-scale disinformation campaign.

Both of these countries believe that the fragmentation of the EU will benefit them, while they have recently increased their contacts with each other in the military sphere.

The stakes both in cyberspace and in the ordinary world have increased due to the military presence in other countries, ”said Wihel.

The parliamentarian recalled that earlier Lithuania, "for security reasons", refused to cooperate with the Chinese company Nuctech, which is engaged in the creation of software for security control systems.

According to Vikhel, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense believes that the use of Russian and Chinese equipment or technologies in working with sensitive information "can pose a threat" both in the short and long term.

Against this background, the MP noted that the European Union has recently concluded a new investment agreement with China.

In this regard, he asked the head of the Swedish Ministry of Internal Affairs if he plans to start developing legislation aimed at protecting, for example, the transport, energy and telecommunications sectors of the country from the activities of "untrustworthy foreign companies."

In February, US President Joe Biden said that Moscow was allegedly seeking to "weaken" the European project and "undermine the transatlantic unity."
