Potsdam (dpa / bb) - With a silent protest, the Brandenburg hospitality industry is calling for hotels and restaurants to be opened.

From Prignitz to Lusatia, innkeepers put “a set table” or “a bed” in front of their facilities, according to the Brandenburg Hotel and Restaurant Association, in order to draw attention to their situation in the run-up to the federal-state talks (3.3.) do.

"If comparable industries such as retail are allowed to reopen, things have to start again in the hospitality industry - in such a way that the companies can work economically," demanded Dehoga President Olaf Schöpe on Monday.

A continued partial lockdown is unacceptable.

"Gastronomy and the hotel industry were and are not drivers of pandemics," emphasized Schöpe.

This has also been confirmed by the RKI with its "Control Covid Plan".

The risk of infection is low, especially at meetings outdoors and in hotels.

The “partial lockdown” from November 2020 was therefore a political decision to reduce the number of contacts and enable other industries to open up.

“It can't go on like this!” He criticized.

The hospitality industry should not be treated as a secondary issue in the development of opening perspectives.

The hospitality industry has drawn up responsible plans for opening scenarios and successful protection concepts.

"We have much larger rules on distance and we also carry out continuous guest registration," said Schöpe.

According to Schöpe, the catering industry creates protected areas with high hygiene standards.

The experience following the last lockdown showed that if these areas were not available, people would switch to unprotected areas, he says.

"We mustn't make this mistake a second time."
