Schleiz (dpa / th) - Due to the high number of corona infections, the Saale-Orla district is reintroducing a nightly curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Most people are at home at this time anyway, said the district administrator of the Saale-Orla district, Thomas Fügmann, on Monday.

However, in the past few months the police have found "a surprising number of people who have met in the late evening and night for celebrations and other social gatherings," said Fügmann in a statement.

Such contacts should be avoided.

In Thuringia, a night curfew had been in effect for several weeks during the lockdown.

When the new ordinance came into force more than a week ago, the measure was no longer applicable.

The new rules in the Saale-Orla district should apply from Tuesday, when a corresponding general decree comes into force.

The regulation is initially valid until March 15, but is expected to remain in place until the seven-day incidence has fallen below the value of 150.

It was only at the weekend that it became known that the Saale-Orla district was closing daycare centers and schools that were already open because the seven-day incidence there on Sunday had climbed to more than 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days .
