After holding the press partly responsible for the tragic death of his mother, Princess Diana, Prince Harry revealed to the famous American TV presenter Oprah Winfrey that he feared history would repeat itself.

Prince Harry was the latest shockwave in the British royal family after his decision to give up his duties there a year ago and move to reside in the United States with his American wife Megan Markle.

On Sunday evening, CBS broadcasted excerpts of the "intimate" interview with American television star Oprah Winfrey, scheduled for full presentation on March 7.

"My biggest concern was that history will repeat itself," the 36-year-old prince said, apparently referring to the death of his mother, Princess Diana, in a traffic accident in Paris after trying to evade celebrity photo hunters in 1997.

The Duke of Sussex had always had a difficult relationship with the British press, and he recently said that the pressure he faced from the media in his country was "mentally shattering".

"I'm really satisfied that I'm sitting here and talking to you next to my wife," Prince Harry, holding Megan, said during the interview.

He added, "Because I cannot begin to visualize what the situation was like for her (Diana) with her having to face all this situation alone for all these years."

Harry said, "It was very difficult for both of us, but at least we are together."

Prince Harry - the sixth in line to succeed the British throne - has repeatedly denounced the media pressure exerted on his young family, blaming it the main responsibility for the decision to withdraw his and his wife from the royal family, which took effect since April 2020.

Buckingham Palace announced recently that Harry and Meghan will lose the last honorary titles, especially the military titles that he was very clinging to.

Megan Markle will also lose her sponsorship of charitable activities.

Harry and Megan live with their son Archie in a luxury villa near Los Angeles.

The couple have signed massive contracts with Netflix and Spotify.

The couple also made headlines on Valentine's Day with the announcement of their second child.
