Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was found guilty today of corruption and influence peddling.

The judgment of the trial that brought him to the bench of those accused of corruption and influence peddling, for which the Prosecutor's Office asked for two years in firm prison and that will determine his political future, reports Efe.

The case was discovered by the investigators in the wiretaps intervened

between the former president and his lawyer, Thierry Herzog, in the framework of a third judicial investigation against him.

During the hearing, which took place last November and December, Sarkozy denied the accusations, while his lawyers insisted on trying to invalidate the wiretapping, in his opinion protected by the right to confidentiality between a client and his lawyer.
