The facts took place last Monday in Saulxures-sur-Moselotte, in the Vosges.

A 49-year-old man was killed during a night out with friends, hit on the head with a bottle.

Her body was discovered Wednesday by the gendarmes, alerted by a work colleague worried about not seeing her take her post on Tuesday.

The alleged murderer, arrested Saturday at his home in Rambervillers (Vosges), was imprisoned.

The forties was indicted Sunday for "murder" after admitting the facts, which would have taken place during a highly alcoholic evening, announced the public prosecutor of Epinal Nicolas Heitz.

During his custody, the suspect admitted that he had gone, with his half-brother and a friend, to the victim on Monday evening, an acquaintance since his childhood.

According to the defendant, the three men started drinking.

Then, at the departure of his half-brother and his friend, the evening degenerated into an argument during which he admitted to having taken a bottle and having struck his host a blow on the head, explained the magistrate.

The suspect claimed to have thought he had only knocked out the victim, but then fled, without calling for help, by taking the victim's car, said Nicolas Heitz.

The vehicle was flashed at 2:47 a.m. with a lone man driving, according to the magistrate.

The autopsy revealed multiple fractures of the face, skull and jaw, the prosecutor said.
