Lausanne (AP) - The IOC has rejected the criticism of the German Olympic Sports Confederation for alleged "false statements" in the course of the Rhine-Ruhr application for the 2032 Summer Games.

The International Olympic Committee confirmed on Monday that the DOSB had not wanted to enter into a dialogue with the IOC about future games despite several information talks.

"How the procedure in the DOSB committees was for this (non) decision is beyond our knowledge," said an IOC spokesman.

DOSB President Alfons Hörmann had previously denied the IOC representation that the umbrella organization did not support the German Summer Games project and refused to enter the so-called "permanent dialogue".

There was "no formal decision by the DOSB for or against entry" in negotiations with the IOC, said Hörmann at a video link on Monday.

The dispute was preceded by the early IOC vote for Brisbane, Australia, as the preferred candidate for 2032.

According to the IOC, the DOSB was informed of the changed application procedure on November 1, 2019.

In February of the previous year there was another meeting with the DOSB.

But even afterwards, he did not use the opportunity to enter into a dialogue with the new IOC commission for future games.

In January, the DOSB then informed the IOC that it would only start negotiations on the Olympic Games after the positive outcome of a public survey and the approval of the general assembly in December.

Shortly afterwards, the IOC set the course for Brisbane.

Due to the choice of Australians, a German application for 2032 is practically hopeless.
