Berlin (dpa / bb) - More than every third member of the Berlin fire brigade has already received a corona vaccination.

Since mid-January there have been more than 2200 first vaccinations and around 1220 second vaccinations, as the fire brigade announced on Monday.

The willingness to vaccinate around 6,000 members of the professional fire brigade and volunteer fire brigades is still very high, vaccination continues uninterrupted, said a spokesman.

The paramedics and emergency services of the other aid organizations in the rescue service are currently being vaccinated.

In this area there were last 920 first and around 500 second vaccinations (as of February 23, 2021).

The fire brigade has recorded 292 cases of corona infection since the pandemic began.

There were also several hundred quarantine cases ordered.

There are currently only a few firefighters with acute infections left.

The police should start vaccinating this week;

12,000 vaccine doses are initially made available for this purpose.

First of all, the so-called vaccination codes for 24,000 doses are sent out, which the police officers can use to make an appointment.

Around 18,000 police officers work in Berlin.

Like members of the fire brigade, doctors or educators, they should receive the Astrazeneca vaccine and appointments at the vaccination center at the former Tegel Airport.

The vaccinations are voluntary.

The police could not say how many police officers were infected in the past twelve months.
