Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif warned of what he called "any destructive move" during the meetings of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, saying that he would "face a serious response."

And the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported that Zarif stressed that America has no right to return to the nuclear agreement unless it abides by its obligations clearly and explicitly.

On the sidelines of the meeting of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Zarif added that pursuing a resolution against Iran in the Rulers Council would lead to confusion of the current situation.

The International Atomic Energy Agency had warned of the consequences of stopping or restricting Iran's access to international inspectors to nuclear sites, stressing that this had a negative impact on the agency's work.

Gross Warnings

The Director General of the Agency, Rafael Grossi, called on Iran to adhere to the additional protocol of the Treaty on the Control of Nuclear Weapons, noting that Iran's failure to implement the supplementary agreement makes it inconsistent with its obligations under the nuclear agreement.

The agency expressed its concern over the discovery of uranium metal remains at a site that had not been announced by Iran, and said that this is evidence of the existence of undeclared Iranian nuclear activities.

The agency - whose 35-nation board of governors is holding its quarterly meeting this week - confirmed that it had not received a response from Iran to requests regarding the nature of nuclear activities at previously unannounced sites.

During a press conference on the sidelines of the IAEA Board of Governors meeting, Grossi stressed the need for continued inspections of Iranian nuclear facilities, adding that transparency measures related to the nuclear agreement with Iran no longer exist due to Tehran's suspension of the additional protocol.

For its part, the European Union said that discussions with the parties to the Iranian nuclear deal and the United States are still continuing.

"We will not negotiate"

In the same regard, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that the United States had no choice but to return to the nuclear agreement and lift the sanctions on Iran, adding that the nuclear agreement was an important agreement, and there was an international plan to thwart it.

He added, "Trump came to implement the plots of the Zionists and reactionary countries against the nuclear agreement. The United States has no choice but to return to the nuclear agreement and lift unjust sanctions against the Iranians. Trump’s failure is a success for us, and the other achievement for us is the current administration’s recognition that the maximum pressure on Iran was useless and a failed policy." ".

Rouhani indicated that more time is needed for diplomatic work in order to reach the full implementation of the nuclear agreement with Iran.

In the same escalatory approach, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that his country has not witnessed a change in Washington's policies, and will not negotiate with it before the sanctions are lifted.

He added, "We do not accept the language of coercion, and we follow the policy of step for step. Washington must realize that it cannot continue the policy of maximum pressure and the continuation of sanctions in the name of diplomacy."

Russian position

Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, called on Tehran and Washington to work simultaneously and coordinated to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action related to Iran's nuclear program, and to abandon the debate over who should take the first step.

Ulyanov also urged, in a tweet on Twitter, the rest of the agreement's parties and the active countries of the International Atomic Energy Agency to refrain from taking steps he described as "irresponsible", which would undermine the chances of fully restoring the work of the nuclear agreement with Iran through negotiations.

Commenting on Iran's refusal to participate in informal consultations with the United States, Ulyanov said that the decision is not final on the part of Tehran, and that the matter will depend on studying Iran's nuclear file in the session of the Board of Governors, which is held today, Monday.
