"
We demand the release of all detainees without delay, an end to harassment and threats from activists,
" said Mahamane Ousmane on Saturday.
According to official figures, several
hundred people have been arrested
since the unrest began on Tuesday.
“
These elections should not be taken as a pretext to settle past
scores,” he continued.
The RDR-Tchanji candidate cites
the case of Hama Amadou
of the Moden Fa Lumana Africa party, who has been in the premises of the Niamey judicial police since late Friday morning.
He went there after Interior Minister Alkache Alhada accused him of being behind the unrest and on the run.
"
What fault could he have committed?
“, Asked Mahamane Ousmane, before answering:“
none, in my humble opinion
”.
Finally, the RDR-Tchanji candidate challenged the international community on the situation that he considers manageable provided, "
that the votes cast by the citizens can be reflected in the results
".
Mahamane Ousmane claimed victory again, with 50.3% of the vote.
