The four-meter-long self-propelled sailboat will be ready next year.

So far, a small model boat has been rebuilt in which technology has been installed. It has been tested on Lake Mälaren.

- The idea is that it should be able to follow a predefined course, but also avoid colliding with other obstacles on the course, and optimize the wind, says Mikael Ekström.

The project was started in 2020 and is a collaboration between MDH, a university in Panama and one in Colombia.

The plan was that the students, who during the project have learned to sail, would have been at a competition in Panama in January. There they would have shown the technology and competed against other schools with similar projects. Due to the pandemic, however, the competition was postponed to next year.
