The announcement was quickly greeted by the American president.

In a statement, Joe Biden speaks of light at the end of the tunnel.

"

This is great news for all Americans and a step forward in our efforts to end this crisis,

" writes the president.

The authorization of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine should indeed make it possible to accelerate the pace of vaccinations in the United States.

All the more so since this vaccine requires only one dose and that the storage and transport conditions are less restrictive than for the vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna.

Now that the drug agency has rendered its decision, Johnson & Johnson has announced that 4 million doses are ready for distribution.

The company also pledged to produce 20 million vaccines by the end of March and 100 million doses in June.

US authorities hope that by adding the 3 vaccines in circulation today, the vast majority of Americans can be vaccinated before the end of the year.

Today, nearly 50 million people have already received at least one dose of the vaccine
