The

Spanish Association of Civil Guards (AEGC)

has denounced this Saturday the assault on the

Villafranca de los Caballeros post (Toledo)

and the theft of "various pistols and official uniforms", in addition to personal belongings that the agents had stored in their lockers.

In a statement, the AEGC has indicated that this action, which was carried out last night, has only confirmed the complaints that have been made about the situation of positions like this one, which have "few personnel and no security measures. protection".

As they have detailed, they are "a cake for criminals, who know that they will not meet any resistance, because in many of them the agents no longer even live and, therefore, they remain more hours without surveillance than with it."

For AEGC, what happened in Villafranca de los Caballeros is a "new warning to the

Ministry of the Interior

to take measures to prevent these assaults once and for all."

The association regrets that the "negligence" shown by those responsible "leaves the civil guards in the hands of fate or luck and hoping that, when it is repeated, they are not the ones affected."

The Association has once again reconsidered a new deployment of the Civil Guard because "either the staff depleted by the years of freezing of public employment or the closure and reunification of positions are being faced with determination."

Finally, they recalled that the Civil Guard is the institution best valued for the extraordinary service it offers to citizens, but positions with fewer than

10 agents

, which are only open as if they were offices from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., "little security can offer in their demarcations ", being precisely the towns of emptied Spain that are most affected.
