Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - In Jerichower Land, around 800 employees of primary schools and daycare centers were vaccinated against the corona virus within one day.

This was announced by a spokeswoman for the circle at the request of the German press agency.

The administration estimates that 70 to 80 percent of the professional groups were vaccinated with it on Friday.

"We are very pleased that our offer was so well received," said the head of the vaccination center, Thomas Barz.

The vaccinated employees of the schools and daycare centers were grateful that the district acted so quickly.

At the same time, the team from the vaccination center in Burg showed what it could do.

Within a few days, the Jerichower Land district organized a day of action to immunize educators and teachers against the corona virus.

The main reason for this is that schools and daycare centers will reopen for all children and young people on Monday after two and a half months of emergency operation.

In addition, the federal government only changed its ordinance a few days ago, which stipulates which risk groups are vaccinated in which order.

Pedagogical staff from primary and special schools as well as daycare centers moved up to the second priority.

"It was immensely important to us to have the first vaccination possible before schools and day-care centers opened," said the vaccination center manager Barz.

Time windows were staggered according to communities.

Appointments did not have to be agreed in advance.

Magdeburg plans to allocate vaccination appointments for educators from Tuesday.

Saxony-Anhalt initially wants to reserve a quarter of the Astrazeneca delivery from March for these professional groups.

At the beginning of the week, the country assumed a total of 107,000 vaccine doses.
