Stralsund / Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has prepared for the election campaign this year with a video conference and coalition partner SPD thrown gauntlet down.

CDU country chief Michael Sack stated on Saturday that there were significant deficits in the digitization of the country and in school policy, both ministries led by the SPD.

He also accused the SPD of promoting the corona vaccination strategy.

The party gives the impression that it knew everything beforehand and better, but always sat at the table when the decisions in Berlin were made.

"There are good reasons that the SPD is stable below 20 percent," said Sack with a view to nationwide voter polls, in which the Social Democrats are well behind the Union.

The Bundestag member Philipp Amthor, who had withdrawn his candidacy for the CDU state chairmanship in favor of Sacks after a lobbying affair the previous year, was also aggressive.

Amthor certified Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) to lead the country "professionally and disciplined" through the Corona crisis.

“But of course she also does it in a way in which she often doesn't have to get her hands so dirty.

Instead of the efforts of the plain, she prefers appearances in front of the press objections in front of the State Chancellery, in talk show evenings in the federal government, "said Amthor.

He also called on his party to take a clear line against the left and to stand up to the AfD's “simplifiers”.

In response to the ongoing contact restrictions due to the corona pandemic, the CDU wants to increasingly use digital formats.

"The election campaign is taking place to a considerable extent on the Internet," said Sack, but at the same time noted that his party was "not yet 100 percent equipped".

Sack announced in the Internet forum organized by the Junge Union that the state party would significantly increase its visibility on the Internet from mid-March in the absence of voting on marketplaces or in full halls.
