An investigation was opened for "intentional homicide" after the discovery of the body of a mother on Wednesday evening, in Baie-Mahault in Guadeloupe, announced a judicial source on Friday, confirming information from local media.

“All avenues are being considered,” said Patrick Desjardins, public prosecutor for Pointe-à-Pitre.

"This is a very delicate investigation," he added.

A stab wound

The 34-year-old victim, mother of a 9-year-old child, "died of a stab wound".

It is a sore "in the neck" according to local media.

An autopsy was performed on Friday.

“On the evening of February 24, the husband declares that he discovered his wife's body on his way home from work,” according to Patrick Desjardins.

The child was not present in the accommodation at the time of the tragedy, according to a source close to the file.

The investigation was entrusted to the Research Section of the Gendarmerie.

No arrest had taken place on Friday evening.
