Malchow (dpa / mv) - In an accident on the Autobahn 19 Berlin-Rostock, a wolf was run over in the Mecklenburg Lake District.

As a police spokesman said on Friday, the predator collided with two trucks south of the A19 exit Malchow on Friday night.

The first truck brushed against the wolf, who was thrown under the central barrier.

Then the animal wanted to run through the lanes in the direction of Berlin again and was hit and killed by a truck that followed.

Experts from the environmental administration recovered the animal from the ditch.

The south of Mecklenburg and Western Pomerania and the north of Brandenburg are populated by several packs of wolves.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, many young animals are currently in the process of breaking away from their parental packs and looking for new territories, so that accidents can occur everywhere.

In neighboring Brandenburg, such accidents with wolves on motorways are even more common.
