On February 26th, local time in South Korea, vaccination was launched nationwide.

On that day, more than 1,900 vaccination sites across the country began to vaccinate the first batch of subjects with AstraZeneca vaccine, involving more than 5,000 people; mainly including people under 65 who work and live in nursing facilities and other places.

  On the same day, South Korean President Moon Jae-in went to a vaccination site in Mapo District, Seoul.

The Blue House stated that the trip was to encourage front-line medical staff and to call on the public to cooperate with the vaccination.

The South Korean government stated that it will strive to complete the vaccination of 70% of the country’s population by September and is expected to form herd immunity in November.

  The outbreak in South Korea is in the middle of the third wave of pandemic.

According to a report by the South Korean Central Anti-epidemic Countermeasures Headquarters on the 26th, 406 new cases were confirmed in the past 24 hours.
