One more tackle.

Prime Minister Jean Castex described Friday as "nonsense" the idea of establishing local confinements of three weeks with the aim of a total reopening then, as formulated Thursday evening by the first deputy mayor of Paris Emmanuel Grégoire.

“You heard the Paris town hall say that we have to confine three weeks and then it's over.

But you know very well that with variants, etc., this is not possible ”, declared the Prime Minister, during a trip to the Nantes hospital center.

“We must not talk nonsense.

You should never tell nonsense, ”he added, in front of the staff of the intensive care unit.

The town hall retropédale

Thursday evening, Emmanuel Grégoire had said that the town hall was going to "make proposals for additional measures" to the State.

Among these, a three-week confinement in order "to have the prospect of reopening everything" at its end, including bars, restaurants and cultural places, rather than a weekend confinement as in Nice or Dunkirk.

Emmanuel Grégoire put into perspective Friday, in the face of criticism, the proposal for a three-week confinement in the capital, extending it to the “dense area” of Ile-de-France and speaking of a simple “hypothesis”.

Jean Castex is to chair a meeting on Saturday morning with the prefects and directors general of the regional health agencies of the 20 departments that he placed on Thursday in “reinforced surveillance”, including the whole of Ile-de-France.

Consultations must then be carried out locally, between prefects and elected officials, in order to lead soon to new restrictions if the epidemic situation continues to deteriorate.
