Berlin (dpa) - In an open letter, Berlin's soccer boss Bernd Schultz has called for a step-by-step plan for returning to training and games for young people and amateurs.

The President of the Berlin Football Association (BFV) spoke on Friday of four opening steps outdoors: first the training for children up to twelve years in groups of ten from March 8, then the training for all club members in groups of ten, finally that Training in team strength (groups of 30) and then the return to competition and game operations.

«On behalf of the more than 170,000 members of the Berlin Football Association, I would ask you to show the footballers in the capital a perspective of resuming training and thus allowing them to participate in sports in the around 400 Berlin football clubs as part of the solution to overcoming the pandemic understand », Schultz appealed to the politically responsible forces in the capital.

The amateurs' training and game operations are currently suspended completely due to the corona pandemic.

Schultz cites "the latest scientific investigation", which says that the risk of infection with the Sars-CoV-2 virus on the football field is very low.

With regard to the next Corona summit between Chancellor Angela Merkel and the Prime Minister on Wednesday, the BFV expects Berlin politicians to open up prospects, according to the open letter to Governing Mayor Michael Müller and Sports Senator Andreas Geisel.
