- It is not really an establishment, but the wolverine population has crept south in recent years and I think that in the long run we will have wolverines in Västmanland to some extent.
Maybe one or two animals, says Daniel Mallwitz, large predator responsible for the inventory, Västmanland County Administrative Board.
Järven has resided in the northern parts of the county on the border with Dalarna, in the area around Rosshyttan in Sala municipality.
The County Administrative Board has tracked it on 2-3 occasions this season and now also received pictures of it via one of its game cameras.
- We have had wolverines that have run through the county before, most recently in 2009, but this individual who is an adult wolverine, has been here for a while as we have been able to track it for a while. And there is nothing that in the long run means that we will not have wolverines established in the county, says Daniel Mallwitz
