The United States has warned Iran that its patience is about to run out, because Tehran has not yet responded to a European proposal to hold direct US-Iranian talks aimed at reviving the Iranian nuclear deal.

In response to a question to know how long the US offer of dialogue with Iran will remain on the table, the US State Department spokesman, Ned Price, told reporters, the day before yesterday, that “our patience has limits!”

He added that returning to "imposing verifiable and permanent restrictions on Iran's nuclear program" represents an "urgent challenge."

He continued, "But we think, and President (Joe Biden) was clear in this regard, that the most effective way to ensure that Iran never possesses a nuclear weapon is through diplomacy, and this is what we are doing now."

For her part, said White House spokeswoman Jane Saki: "We are waiting to see what will be Iran's response to the European invitation."

The Biden administration announced, six days ago, that it had accepted an invitation from the European Union to Washington and Tehran to hold an informal meeting of the parties that concluded the Iran nuclear deal in 2015, with the aim of reviving this agreement, but the Iranian authorities have not yet responded to the European invitation.
