Q&A What is the parental pin
Ecuador of the legislature Vox marks its territory to distance itself from the Andalusian Government in the second half of the legislature
The bill for the increasingly frequent crashes between Pablo Casado and Santiago Abascal could end up being paid by the Andalusian Government formed by the PP and Ciudadanos.
Just a few days after the president of the PP, Pablo Casado, reaffirmed himself in his total break with Vox, Abascal's party has struck the table in Andalusia and has
quarantined
its support for the regional executive chaired by Juanma Dark.
The parliamentary spokesman for Vox in this community, Alejandro Hernández, has personally announced this Thursday the
break with
the Andalusian president during the control session in the Autonomous Chamber and with the parental pin in the background.
Vox, Hernández told Moreno, will not support a single initiative of the Andalusian Government or of the parties that support it as of this Friday and as long as the
parental pin
is not implanted
that leaves the power to veto according to what extracurricular content and activities.
"Do not count on Vox until a mechanism is implemented in a way that we understand sufficient and satisfactory to guarantee that parents can avoid
sectarian
indoctrination
of their children," the Vox spokesman told the Andalusian president before the plenary session of Parliament.
The break has a date and time, since Vox's decision takes effect from midnight this Friday.
What remains to be seen is whether it is definitive or if it is an ordeal product of the
strategy
that Vox has been visualizing in Andalusia for months and which consists of marking distances with the Popular Party and with the executive that make up this party and Ciudadanos.
The distancing, at least on paper, was started by Vox shortly after giving its support to Moreno Bonilla's third budgets, those of 2021, and after a
negotiation
that ran aground at first precisely after Pablo Casado slammed the door. Abascal in the vote on the motion of censure against Pedro Sánchez presented by the radical right-wing party.
After that, and although Vox ended up supporting the Andalusian accounts, its parliamentarians have hardened their tone and
criticized
the coalition government until they asked, in just a few weeks, the resignation of several advisers, including that of Economic Transformation , Rogelio Velasco, and that of Culture and Historical Heritage, Patricia del Pozo.
Vox, aligned with the left
Hernández recalled yesterday how the budget agreement signed in 2019 explicitly included "express authorization" from parents when their children participate in complementary educational activities and, in contrast to that, the Minister of Education, Javier Imbroda , has recently rejected it.
"We are debating with confidence and respect," said the Vox spokesman, who was asked by the Andalusian president to reconsider his position because taking it forward means
aligning
with the left-wing opposition and the only alternative is the PSOE.
The alternative to continuing to support the executive of the PP and Cs is, in Moreno's opinion, "to fall into opportunism, into
confrontation
and we can spoil the political change in Andalusia."
Moreno wanted to make it clear that the
agreements
will be fulfilled and that Andalusian parents will have "the ability not only to know what their children are doing in that extracurricular activity, but even to authorize or not authorize it."
But regardless of whether or not Vox fulfills its threat, the Andalusian government is not too
concerned
since Vox's support is no longer as vital as it was before the approval of the latest budgets.
These accounts, with more than 40,000 million of spending, allow the PP and Cs to exhaust the legislature, extending them if necessary.
To this must be added the conviction that, according to sources from the autonomous government, Vox would have to assume a very high
electoral cost
if it materializes its threat and definitively withdraws its support for the executive, by being portrayed together with the PSOE or Podemos.
