Mannheim (dpa / lsw) - Only a good 20 kilometers apart and within three hours there were two armed robberies in the Mannheim area on Wednesday evening.
A police spokesman said there was currently no connection.
Around 7 p.m., a betting office in Schwetzingen (Rhein-Neckar district) was attacked, and around 10 p.m. a gas station in Mannheim-Neckarstadt.
In both cases the perpetrator had a gun, in both cases he is on the run.
In the attack on the betting office, the perpetrator threatened an employee, stole a mid four-digit amount and fled on foot, the police said.
The man who robbed the gas station had less success: he threatened an employee with a firearm - but the employee refused to give him money and put him on the run.
Despite the temporal and spatial proximity, according to the police, there is initially nothing to suggest a connection.
"You can not rule it out, but there is also no indication," said a police spokesman.
