- We have actively worked to encourage our customers to shop alone since last spring, through social media, speaker calls and advertising, says Johan Hedeby who is a partner in an Ica Maxi store in Växjö.

- But many look like question marks when you remind them.

During the Public Health Agency's press conference on Wednesday, it emerged that the government is investigating the introduction of requirements for shops to encourage customers to shop alone, with the exception of children and other people who need support.

How the requirements should be formulated is still unclear, according to the Public Health Agency's press service.

"There will be large clusters"

When SVT Nyheter visits the Grand Samarkand shopping center in Växjö and the adjacent grocery store, it can be seen that many go into groups of several - despite the appeal from the companies that customers should shop alone.

- If there are large groups, we take help from our security guards and urge them to share.

But if there is a couple, for example, we have no authority to share two people, says Lena Jonsson, marketing coordinator at Grand Samarkand.

Clearer information from the government on how the stores should act is requested by retailers.

- We welcome clear directives.

That you can only shop alone.

Then we can put a guard in the entrance who can make sure that everyone comes alone, says Johan Hedeby.

But what do customers say about the urge to shop alone?
