Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - At a rest area near Wiesbaden, seven people were found in a truck, including three young people and a child.

The men did not have any identification documents with them, but were allegedly from Afghanistan, the police said on Thursday.

"Since the suspicion of an unauthorized stay in the Federal Republic of Germany existed, appropriate investigations were initiated."

The truck driver had heard knocking noises on Thursday morning and notified employees of the Federal Office for Goods Transport.

The police did not provide any information about the condition of the seven people, but they were initially supplied with food at the rest stop.

The Wiesbaden youth welfare office took over the care of the young people and the child, and the adult men were released.

The police suspect that the people had got through a slit tarpaulin on the back of the truck.

The investigation continues.
