Hamburg (dpa / lno) - By early Thursday morning in Hamburg, the police initiated 268 administrative offense proceedings for violations of the Corona rules within 24 hours.

Mostly they were directed against adolescents and young adults who had not adhered to the distance rules, said a spokeswoman.

Residents and passers-by had informed the police about larger groups in Jenischpark, on Jungfernstieg and in Park Fiction at St. Pauli Fischmarkt.

It is said to have been more than 150 people.

The police had warned about compliance with the corona rules via loudspeaker announcement.

In the spring-like weather, however, there were repeated accumulations throughout the city where the 1.50 meter distance rule was not adhered to.

From Saturday, a stricter mask requirement will apply in Hamburg, which prescribes a medical mouth and nose covering wherever distances cannot be maintained due to many visitors, for example on the Alster and Elbe and in the parks.

The police announced controls.

"Above all, we will keep these defined areas in focus over the weekend, but we are also on the move throughout the city," said the spokeswoman.
