Pasewalk (dpa / mv) - In Western Pomerania, there could be a mayoral election in September together with state and federal elections.
As a spokeswoman for the city of Pasewalk (Vorpommern-Greifswald) said on Thursday, the city representatives will shortly decide whether the top of the administration will also be re-elected on September 26th.
The background is that the term of office of Mayor Sandra Nachtweih (CDU) would end in spring 2022.
The 45-year-old wants to run again for a second term, as she told the German press agency.
In 2014, Nachtweih prevailed as a non-party candidate, supported by the SPD and the Left, in the first ballot against two competitors.
She is now a CDU member and district council president.
In the city council of Pasewalk the CDU has ten members, the initiative Mit Another for Pasewalk 4, Linke, SPD and NPD each 3 and another citizens' initiative 2 seats.
The city is located in the south of Western Pomerania around 100 kilometers north of Berlin, borders the Uckermark and is hoping for more companies to settle in a new large industrial area on Autobahn 20.
