Dresden (dpa / sn) - The African swine fever (ASP) continues to rage in Eastern Saxony.
So far, 55 corresponding cases have been registered, said Minister of Social Affairs Petra Köpping (SPD) on Thursday during a visit to the animal disease control center in Dresden.
An expansion of the restriction zones is now planned.
South of the Autobahn 4 (Dresden-Görlitz), the mobile barrier for wild boars is to be reinforced by a further 72 kilometers of permanent fence.
It is about preventing greater economic damage for farmers, said Köpping.
Luck in misfortune: So far, no domestic pigs have been affected by the disease.
