Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The opposition left faction doubts the will of the state government to present the long-promised waiting period law for the change of ministers and state secretaries in the free economy during this electoral period.

"We are obviously dealing with a first-class mockery," said left-wing member of the state parliament Peter Ritter on Thursday in Schwerin.

He pointed out that the SPD / CDU government wanted to introduce some bills in the first reading in the March session of parliament.

The draft for a waiting period is again not on the agenda.

After the introduction of laws, the drafts are discussed in the parliamentary committees before they are adopted in the second reading.

However, only four regular weeks of plenary sessions are planned before the state elections in September.

The state government had already announced a change to the law in October 2019 in order to include a waiting period regulation.

According to this, outgoing ministers and state secretaries should report in the future if they want to take a job outside the public service.

It should be possible to prohibit employment for up to one year if this could affect public interests.

The CDU had asserted a need for clarification on detailed issues, the SPD cited the corona crisis as one of the reasons for the delays.

According to Ritter, the left has long been pushing for the law to be changed.

"Even Corona is not a good excuse after four years of" processing time "," he said.

At the federal level and in several other federal states, there are already waiting period regulations.
