Launched at the end of January by King Mohammed VI, the campaign was a month and a half late.

But now the country has eight million doses in stock.

Morocco is among the African countries that have taken the bull from the horn vaccination.

From the summer of 2020, the kingdom was participating in clinical tests of the vaccine developed by Chinese Sinopharm, hoping to be among the first served.

By the way, Rabat even ordered forty million doses from Sinopharm.

But the first batches expected in mid-December did not finally arrive until February, provoking a fit of anger from the Moroccan Prime Minister.

In January, he denounced the outbidding of certain countries, such as Serbia, which paid more to be served by Sinopharm before Morocco.

Two and a half million Moroccans vaccinated

To start a campaign

that was lagging behind, authorities had to purchase six million doses of AstraZenaca vaccine, manufactured under license in India.

While in the meantime, Sinopharm decided to supply Morocco.

Since the end of January, more than two and a half million Moroccans have already been vaccinated.

The country, which has set up a whole logistics of vaccination centers, hopes to be able to treat 25 million people this year, or nearly 80% of its population.
