Dresden / Berlin (dpa / sa) - In Saxony, six train stations are to be modernized by 2026.

Among other things, the conversion to accessibility is to be promoted, as the Federal Ministry of Transport announced on Thursday.

For example, ramps and elevators are to be installed at the stations in Falkenau, Glauchau, Plauen and Mittweida and the routing improved.

The reception buildings of the Zwickau main train station and the Dresden Mitte station are to be fundamentally modernized.

In addition to improving accessibility, there are plans to redesign waiting areas and renovating the roofs.

The plans are being implemented by Deutsche Bahn.

According to its own information, the Federal Ministry of Transport is making more than five billion euros available throughout Germany.

Investments are made in more than 3,000 train stations.
