Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya announced this on the First Channel, commenting on the amendments.
"We responded with an amendment, which henceforth establishes liability up to 5 years in prison and up to 5 million (rubles - RT) fines for actions that will defile memory, insult veterans and ... defile the memory of those who have passed away," TASS quotes her.
Earlier, Yarovaya said that the State Duma deputies proposed to introduce criminal liability for humiliating the honor and dignity of veterans.
