Munich (dpa) - The Bavarian State Sports Association fears damage of around 450 million euros from the corona pandemic in 2021.
As the BLSV announced on Wednesday, this emerges from an online survey.
The association started its reporting system in mid-January to get a new overview
of the further financial impact.
Based on the feedback, the damage for all 12,000 clubs and 56 sports associations can be extrapolated to 450 million euros.
Last year, the projected losses amounted to 200 million euros.
“The financial losses, which have more than doubled compared to 2020, are in the worst case life-threatening for clubs and professional associations.
Bavarian sport is therefore
again dependent on financial support from the Free State this year », said BLSV President Jörg Ammon.
At the end of 2020, the BLSV had around 100,000 fewer members than a year earlier (2 percent) due to Corona.
In children and adolescents, the decline of 3.7
and 5 percent is alarming.
In addition to the financial damage, the BLSV also fears serious dangers to the health of society.
