A test at the entrance to the restaurant: LR president of the region Paca Renaud Muselier and LR president of Bouches-du-Rhônes Martine Vassal asked Olivier Véran on Wednesday to authorize a test experience in the department, limited to four establishments initially, to consider reopening the sector.

This proposal comes at a time when the government underlines a "heterogeneous" but "alarming" situation in certain regions such as Provence-Alpes-Côtes d'Azur where weekend containment measures have just been announced in the Alpes-Maritimes .

"For the population, the lack of catering complicates the situation and tarnishes morale", explain the two officials in a letter to the Minister of Health to which AFP had access.

Protocol in support, they ask him "to authorize, in connection with the regional prefect, a first strictly controlled experiment on four voluntary establishments".

"It is a question of establishing filters and barriers which will protect the establishment, its employees and its customers in all circumstances", they assure.

The experiment would follow a strict protocol, developed with the Institut hospitalo-universitaire Méditerranée infection, directed by Didier Raoult, "including systematic screening for the carriage of SARS-CoV-2 in any person, employee or client, before entering the hospital. establishment".

These tests would be done by "self-sampling saliva" whose results would be known "no later than 10 minutes after the start of the test", specifies the protocol.

In addition to the disinfection of tables and chairs "between each consumer" and the provision of hydroalcoholic gel, it is also planned that the tables are spaced to "respect a personal space of 2 m2 per customer" and that each table does not accommodate "more than six clients".

"A daily telephone update will be made between the restaurateur and the IHU on the results of the tests and any technical difficulties encountered", adds the protocol.

"If successful", this experiment "could be extended to other catering establishments in the southern region, as well as to cultural establishments", add Ms. Vassal and Mr. Muselier.
