Potsdam (dpa / bb) - After the opening of the primary schools at the beginning of the week, the state parliament will debate on Wednesday (10:00 a.m.) the consequences of the corona pandemic for children and young people.

In its motion for the current hour, the Left parliamentary group refers to scientific studies, according to which they are particularly suffering from school closings, restrictions on contacts and a lack of leisure opportunities.

In addition, many students in homeschooling were threatened with significant learning deficits.

The debate should therefore discuss a future strategy for educational and social institutions in order to counter the consequences of the pandemic for children and young people in the long term.

In the afternoon, parliament will discuss a motion from the red-black-green coalition groups to accelerate the expansion of local rail transport in the Berlin-Brandenburg region.

This includes the extension of S-Bahn routes, for example from Berlin-Spandau to Falkensee (Havelland), the expansion of stations for longer regional trains, the reconstruction of the main line between Griebnitzsee and Potsdamer Platz and the double-track expansion of the railway line between Angermünde (Uckermark ) and Szczecin.
