The Libyan Government of National Accord forces announced today, Wednesday, that they have monitored the movements of mercenaries of the Russian Wagner Company, loyal to retired Major General Khalifa Haftar, west of the city of Sirte, considering this a breach of the ceasefire agreement.

The government's Barkan al-Fath operations room stated on its Facebook account that the Accord Forces had spotted two convoys, the first on the road from Brega in eastern Libya to Sirte, and it consisted of armed vehicles and an operations room to control drones.

The second column was spotted as it was leaving the city of Ajdabiya, in eastern Libya, to the west, and it consists of 3 dark-glass buses, in addition to armed vehicles.

She confirmed that Wagner mercenaries would continue to carry out actions believed to be laying a pipeline inside a trench to transport oil from the south to the north with the aim of shipping it by sea, in a dangerous precedent for foreign mercenaries' control of Libyan oil and control of the country's wealth.

These moves were considered a contradiction and violation of the Joint Military Commission (5 + 5) agreement regarding the ceasefire signed in Geneva in late October under UN sponsorship, which provides for the departure of foreign forces and mercenaries, and the opening of the coastal road linking the east and west of the country.

Speed up the formation of the government

In a related context, the Supreme Council of State in Libya urged yesterday, Tuesday, the new prime minister-designate, Abdul Hamid al-Dabaiba, to expedite the presentation of his government to the House of Representatives.

In an official statement, the parliament called on the deputies to show the highest levels of responsibility to give this government confidence, so that it can begin its work effectively and legally.

The Council announced its support for the new government to accomplish the elections due on the agreed date of December 24, stressing that it would not interfere in any choices or consultations regarding forming the government.

Libyans are following with eagerness and anticipating the new government formation that will be presented to the House of Representatives to give it confidence.

Dabaiba has 21 days since February 5 to present his government formation to the House of Representatives, and if the parliament does not approve the formation, the matter will go to the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

Libya is witnessing a breakthrough these days in its crisis after the Dialogue Forum elected on February 5, a unified executive authority headed by Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba to head the government, and Muhammad al-Manfi to head the Presidency Council, and its primary mission is to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on December 24, 2021.
