Hamburg (dpa) - Facebook has put a blocked post from the WDR political magazine “Monitor” on the racially motivated attack that left nine dead in Hanau online.

The film was mistakenly blocked on Facebook and Instagram, said a Facebook spokesman for the German press agency.

"We have restored the post and we apologize for the mistake," said the spokesman.

"Monitor" boss Georg Restle had complained on Twitter about the actions of the US group: "Hello @instagram, hello @FacebookDE, of all things, our #monitor film about the racist attack by #Hanau is supposed to violate your guidelines.

Seriously now? "

Instagram had previously written: «We have removed your post because it violates our community guidelines.

We created these guidelines to support and protect our community on Instagram. "

The article with the title "One year after the attack in Hanau: Deadly omissions?"

had addressed the question of whether the authorities and especially the police failed in the context of the Hanau murders.

However, the film from the “Monitor” broadcast on January 28, 2021 was always available on the WDR website.

On February 19, 2020, a 43-year-old German shot nine people with foreign roots in Hanau.

The man had previously posted pamphlets and videos of conspiracy theories and racist views on the Internet.

After the fact, the 43-year-old is also said to have killed his mother before killing himself.
