Venlo (dpa) - The winning streak of the German women's national team is broken.

After twelve successes in a row, the team of national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg had to admit defeat in Venlo against European champions Netherlands 1: 2 (1: 1).

Jackie Groenen had put the hosts in the lead after 16 minutes after a cover mistake.

Laura Freilang (44.) surprisingly equalized with her fifth goal in her fourth international match before the break.

Danielle van de Donk (60.) scored to lead the Netherlands again.

The World Cup runner-up also won the three-country tournament in which both teams had prevailed against Belgium.

National coach Voss-Tecklenburg had made five changes in the starting line-up compared to the 2-0 win against Belgium on Sunday.

Unplanned, she had to do without Marina Hegering, who was unable to accumulate due to muscular problems.

This also blew up the intended defense formation.

Lena Lattwein was again in the central defense with Lena Oberdorf, Sophia Kleinherne took over the external defense and Sara Doorsoun for the first time since August last year.

And this defense had to do heavy work.

You could tell that the players had never played together in this formation.

The coordination problems, also with the midfield, gave the Dutch women a number of top-class opportunities.

Jill Roord hit the crossbar after four minutes, Lieke Martens could not accommodate the rebounding ball in the empty goal.

Frohms was challenged again just nine minutes later against Roord, as was later against Vivianne Miedema and Martens (35th) and Martens and van de Donk (42nd).

In this phase, the DFB team got no rest and relief into the game.

The balls were lost too quickly, the German players moved too slowly.

But suddenly the tide turned.

The balance came out of nowhere.

After a good teamwork between Alexandra Popp and Svenja Huth, clearance in the center was completely free and overcame the Dutch substitute goalkeeper Lize Kop. Immediately afterwards, Klara Bühl even had the chance to take the lead, but failed to Kop.

The German players took their newly gained self-confidence with them into the second half.

Aggressive pressing disrupted the opponents' build-up game and thus provoked ball losses for the Dutch.

In the 57th minute, Bühl failed to Kop. The hostesses' attack remained dangerous, Martens (57th) only narrowly missed a counterattack, and the lead also came from a counterattack.

Even after that, the Germans remained active and had two great chances to equalize with the substitute Lea Schüller (69th), but they were not used.

In the final phase, too, the DFB women remained too imprecise in their conclusion and thus missed the well-deserved draw.
