Lübeck (dpa / lno) - Third division soccer team VfB Lübeck has temporarily suspended midfielder Florian Riedel.
As the club announced on Tuesday, the 30-year-old will not take part in training and games for a week.
To do this, he is supposed to train for another week with the reservists before he gets the chance to “recommend himself again for missions”.
He also received a fine, has been removed from his position as deputy captain and is no longer part of the team council.
In a television interview, Riedel had criticized sporting director Rocco Leeser, who had previously made the team of the bottom of the table responsible.

VfB board spokesman Thomas Schikorra described the Riedel statements as “exclusively destructive”.
