Bad Zwischenahn (dpa) - A suspicious letter has caused a police operation at the Rügenwalder Mühle company.

After the attacks on three southern German food companies last week, another attack could not be ruled out on Tuesday afternoon, the police said.

The company's administration building in Bad Zwischenahn (Ammerland district) and parts of the production facility have been evacuated.

Specialists from the LKA Hannover examined the letter.

"It turned out that it wasn't explosives, but a letter of complaint from a customer in Berlin," said the police, who praised the company's prudent behavior.

Last week, a man was injured at a beverage manufacturer in Baden-Württemberg when he accepted a package.

The next day, when a letter was opened at Lidl headquarters, there was an explosion with three injured.

A third suspicious package was intercepted and defused in time.

In the Ulm area, a pensioner was arrested on Friday who the authorities believe to be the sender.

According to the public prosecutor in Heidelberg, the man initially did not comment on the allegations against him.
