A faulty engine causing the crash?

Hours after the attack, the President of Nigeria ordered the security forces to "immediately bring back all the captives unharmed".

The army and police said they were tracking the kidnappers.

The plane had been sent on a surveillance mission as part of this kidnapping.

The cause of the crash is still unknown but the pilot reported a failed engine, officials said.

On a video posted on the Internet, we see water cannons attempting to extinguish the flames at the scene of the crash.

An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the accident, the air force said.
