Potsdam / Neuruppin (dpa / bb) - The Neuruppin public prosecutor's office is investigating former employees of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg for breach of trust.

It is about three suspects, said chief prosecutor Frank Winter on Tuesday.

Investigations have been underway since November.

Several media had previously reported.

According to the Schlösser Foundation, it is about agreements between two employees and suppliers about fictitious invoices at the expense of the foundation, said foundation spokesman Frank Kallensee.

At least one employee is from the procurement department of the building yard.

The employment relationship with the two persons concerned had been terminated.

Kallensee could not confirm whether the third accused is also an employee of the foundation.

Prosecutor Winter said that investigations will be carried out on acts within the past five years.

That is how long the limitation period lasts for breach of trust.

However, some acts were already further back.

At the beginning of November, the foundation noticed a bill that could not be attributed to any current project, as Kallensee said.

Thereupon the general administration and the internal auditing of the foundation initiated a comprehensive examination and then informed the public prosecutor.

The Neuruppin Public Prosecutor's Office is the main authority for combating corruption.
