On Tuesday morning, Region Kalmar County announced that the British virus mutation had increased in the county.
Of the samples analyzed for the mutation, 20 percent of the covid samples tested may be the British variant.
The positive covid samples analyzed are from weeks 5 and 6.
However, the region announces that these are preliminary figures and that the samples will be further analyzed.
No cases of South African or Brazilian variant
The British variant is found throughout the county, but there is a significant concentration in Västervik municipality.
There are no confirmed cases of the South African and Brazilian virus mutation yet.
In the county, the number of confirmed covid cases is now increasing after a decline in recent weeks.
The region calls for extra caution during the sports holiday.
