February 23, 2021 In January, the annual consumer price index in the Eurozone countries returned to rise for the first time since August and stood at 0.9%, up from -0.3% in December 2020. Eurostat indicates this by confirming the first estimates released at the beginning of the month. In the EU twenty-seven too, annual inflation rose to 1.2% compared to 0.3% in December.   



The lowest annual rates were recorded in Greece (-2.4%), Slovenia (-0.9%) and Cyprus (-0.8%), while the highest were observed in Poland (3.6%). ), Hungary (2.9%) and the Czech Republic (2.2%).



Inflation started to rise again in Italy too, from -0.3% in December to + 0.7%.
